Choosing a card or PayPal
Checkout offers two options. The Credit Card option accepts credit and debit cards on the Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover networks, and Stripe processes those payments. The PayPal button hands the payment to PayPal. The footer shows those five logos and no others.
Reading the card statement
The charge appears in US dollars on the day the order is placed. The merchant name on that statement line is set by the card processor and can be shortened, so it may not spell out Horizon Picks in full. The order confirmation email shows the same amount and date for matching. Customer service confirms any unfamiliar line within one business day.
Charging at the moment of ordering
Payment of the full order total is taken at the moment the order is placed. Cards and PayPal work the same way, and nothing further is charged at dispatch or delivery.
Seeing a hold with no order behind it
A failed or abandoned payment attempt can leave a pending hold from the card issuer for up to 5 business days. No money has moved, and the issuer lifts the hold on its own. An order exists only when a confirmation email has arrived.
Checking the order total before paying
The order total has three parts: the dresses, the shipping line ($5.90, or $0.00 at $39.00 and up), and sales tax where a state requires it. Checkout shows all three before the payment button. Nothing else goes on the bill: no handling or service fee, no card surcharge, no insurance, and no box ticked in advance.
At checkout: one dress at $24.00, sent to a state where Horizon Picks collects no sales tax, comes to $24.00 plus $5.90, and the card is charged $29.90.
Adding sales tax where it applies
Prices on the site don’t include sales tax. A tax line appears only when the delivery address is in a state that requires Horizon Picks to collect it, and it’s part of the order total shown before payment. Import duties are covered before shipping and never become a checkout line.
Pricing in US dollars
Every price, charge, and refund is in US dollars. Horizon Picks adds no currency conversion fee and no card fee. If a card issuer applies its own foreign transaction fee, that fee sits between the cardholder and the issuer, and Horizon Picks can’t refund it.
Confirming the order by email
A confirmation email with the order number, the dresses, and the order total is sent as soon as payment goes through. When it hasn’t arrived within an hour, check the spam folder first, then ask customer service, who can confirm the order within one business day.
Protecting card details
Card numbers go into a secure payment field embedded at checkout and are processed by Stripe. Horizon Picks’ own server never receives the full number; the store sees only which card network was used and the final four digits. PayPal sign-ins happen on PayPal’s own pages. Every checkout page runs over HTTPS.
Billing to one address, shipping to another
A different billing and shipping address is fine. The billing address must be the one the card issuer has on file, and the shipping address has to sit inside the delivery area. A card issued outside the US works when its issuer approves the charge.
Verifying an order
The payment processor’s fraud screening can hold an order before it goes to the partner. If a check is needed, customer service writes to the shopper within 1 business day. Orders still unverified 5 business days later are cancelled, and the full amount goes back to the payer. Customer service never asks for a full card number, a PIN, or a password.
Retrying a declined card
Declines come from the card issuer, and Horizon Picks can’t see the reason or reverse it. Check the billing address, the card number, and the expiry date, then try again. Switching to PayPal is the other route.
Correcting a pricing error
If a dress shows an obviously wrong price, such as a price missing a digit, customer service emails before dispatch with the correct price. The shopper can top up to the correct price or cancel and get everything back, and the order waits until the shopper answers.
Disputing a charge
Email customer service before opening a dispute with the bank. An answer comes within one business day, and an agreed refund is sent within 2 business days. A bank dispute can take weeks. Horizon Picks answers each dispute by sending the bank the order details, the carrier’s tracking log, and the email thread.
Applying a discount code
No discount codes are running today. When one is offered, a single code applies per order and has to be entered before payment. A code can’t be added to an order that’s already placed. Codes lower the merchandise subtotal, and that lower subtotal is what the $39.00 free shipping line uses.
Leaving out other payment types
Apple Pay and Google Pay aren’t available. Payments arranged outside the checkout page, such as a bank transfer, a check, or cryptocurrency, aren’t accepted either. Horizon Picks runs no installment plan of its own; any pay-later offer shown inside PayPal is a PayPal product under PayPal’s terms.
Handling personal data at checkout
Billing and shipping details entered at checkout are used as the Privacy Policy describes.
