Using California privacy rights

California’s CCPA and CPRA let residents stop the sale and sharing of their personal information. Horizon Picks honors that request from any US shopper, whatever their state. No account, fee, or reason is needed.

Sending a Global Privacy Control signal

A browser or extension with Global Privacy Control switched on sends an opt-out with every visit. Horizon Picks treats that signal as a valid opt-out of sale and sharing for that browser. The site runs no advertising tag. At most, Cloudflare counts page views and load times with its cookie-free Web Analytics script, which shares nothing for advertising, so for now the signal has nothing to block. Should Horizon Picks ever add an advertising tag, that tag won’t load for browsers sending the signal, and this page will be updated the same day.

Defining sale and sharing

Under California law, a business sells data when it passes personal information to someone else and gets money or anything valuable back. Sharing means passing it on for ads that follow a person across other websites. Horizon Picks does neither. The partner, carriers, payment processors, email service, and web host get order data only to complete an order, as the Privacy Policy lists.

Knowing what an opt-out changes

Orders still ship, refunds still arrive, and order and tracking emails still come. The opt-out is recorded against the email address, so it applies first if Horizon Picks’ data practices ever change. Erasing the order record is its own request, covered by the Privacy Policy.

Opting out by email or browser signal

Either route works on its own:

  1. Write to contact@horizonpicks.com with “Privacy request” as the subject and one line asking Horizon Picks not to sell or share personal data.
  2. Rely on the browser: with Global Privacy Control enabled, every visit carries the opt-out automatically.

No cookie settings panel is needed, because the site sets no cookie that requires consent.

Confirming the request

An emailed opt-out is confirmed within 5 business days and recorded within 15 business days. The only check is the email address it came from. Horizon Picks never asks for ID, a photo, or a card number to process an opt-out.

Acting for someone else

Someone acting for a shopper, an authorized agent, needs a permission note signed by that shopper, sent with the request. Horizon Picks may confirm that permission with the shopper by email. The store is for adults and holds no data it knows to belong to anyone under 16.

Treating every shopper the same

Opting out leaves prices, delivery times, return rights, and customer service exactly as they were.

Writing to customer service about privacy

Opt-outs and privacy questions go to contact@horizonpicks.com with the subject line “Privacy request”. Calls to +1 (826) 287-0144 are taken Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM Eastern Time, and a question gets its reply within one business day. The Contact page form reaches the same inbox, and the Privacy Policy covers the rest of how data is handled.
